Productive Weekend

It's been a productive weekend.

Friday night is a blur, oh I remember, I finished the church staff Valentine/thank you bags for delivery on Saturday.

Saturday we headed out to JH's basketball jamboree.  He played well.  A little timid, compared to what I'm used to seeing.  But this is his first game.  First time with the team and coach.  He's the tallest on the team.  His August birthday messes him up for placement.  For most kids sports, the cutoff is 7/31.  Since his birthday is 8/6, he has to play "under". So he is the oldest, and tallest, on his team.  But there is another kid that gives him some stiff competition.  I love that he's trying something new.

Sofia had a game at Beamer.  It was pleasant outside...makes the games easier, rather than pouring.  The kids ran around barefooted.  Ew, I know.  Of course, Lilia had to go potty in the middle of the game.  We went behind a tree, but that didn't go well.  Luckily we had extra clothes in the van.  They lost, 3-2.  But they played well.

Sofia went to spend the night at Hannah's.  Tarren arrived for pick-up around 7pm.  While we waited until then, the boys played upstairs and Sofia and I watched The Secret Life of Bees.  One of our favorites, and worked some more on our heart decorations, sewing the buttons on, still not done.

After she left, I ran to Target.  I have to say, Target is the devil.  I spend too much there, always!  Went to pick up 2 movies for Ashli and ended up buying more.  Some stuff I needed, deodorant, baby soap, shaving cream.  But does Lilia really need another pair of stretch pants?  Why, yes....especially if they are $5 and have hearts on them!  And some Vday candy, and the cute $4.99 tablecloth, some knee socks for Sofia, vday cards for the boys ..... see, the devil.  The guilt I feel just typing this, knowing my financial conscious Ms. B will be reading it.  Oh, the shame.

I had a vivid dream about a pink cake with rainbow sprinkles the other night.  I thought about it for days, so much that I wanted to make one.

Today was spent on laundry and more crafts I wanted to accomplish.

This I saw here, but this is my own version.  I painted a artist board pink, then cut out some valentine paper into a heart shape.  Modge Podged the paper on and sealed the paint.  Then added my marbles.  Not sure I like how it turned out.  Lilia handed me every single marble for placement.  Well, her and her imaginary boyfriend Jacob.  It's not complete, I ran out of marbles.

I also made a pillow for Sofia.  She had picked out the fabric and I thought I'd give it a try.  I like how it turned out.  I want some more of those pom poms.  I don't like these that much, I'd like them softer.  I'll have to look around.   I saw some on etsy I may buy.  I have some red polka-dot and pink fabric I want to use.

All the laundry is done....the girls sheets and blankets took a turn this weekend.  Kids asleep.  Clothes laid out, lunch bags ready.  Whew.

And I didn't shower until 4pm today.  No make-up, no hair done, my kind of day.

Tomorrow I'm taking my mom to a doctor appointment for her knee.  I'm supposed to take notes and translate for dad.  Sylvia should really do that, she's always got "medical stuff" more than I.  I'm thinking I will record him with my phone for playback later.  I hope that's legal.

A new Country Living and Real Simple are waiting for me bedside, so I must go!

Good night.

We had another busy weekend.

A little bit of this.

And this ... I love this idea from Frills Fluff and Trucks.  I heart Valentine's Day.  Not for the mushy Hallmark stuff.....but for the pretty colors (pink & red) and the hearts, of course.

And this.

Ashli got a new camera.  I want it.  I really want it.  35th Place Photography is going to happen.  I'm so proud of the girls.  I need to set a date for a family portrait with her, Sara and Tiff.  I wonder if the new tools they have will shave 50lbs and 5 years off this mama.

Sunday night is here again.  I feel I didn't accomplish as much as I had hoped to get done this weekend.  Friday night is a blur.  I think Sofia and I vegged watching mindless TV.  Saturday was shot -- breakfast and out the door to Sofia's game in Everett.  Syl had the boys, so we hung out at their place Saturday night.  Today breakfast, clean up and to the padres.   Yummy food.  I brought Mrs. Fagan's cinnamon rolls (a new family hit).  The Espo's came for a visit.  We chilled, it was good, but another day away from laundry and my long "to-do/wish" list.

Alex starts guitar this week.  JH full swing into basketball.  Sofia soccer.  I hope to have a successful week at work.  I birthed my first budget analysis in Office 2007.  It was painful.  I hope the next delivery is quick and painless.

Good night.

Weekend Recap

How could it be Sunday night again?

I already shared Friday night crafts.  I still need to do some more coats on my M.  I like my M.  We decided that letters would make great gifts.  Sofia wants to create a few for her friends.  Something handmade, we'll try it.

Sofia had an out of town soccer tournament.  The boys opted to stay with Papa and Lita.  Lilia, Sofia and I left around 10am Saturday morning for our 2 1/2 hour trip to Camas.  Papa picked up the boys just before we left.  He was going to take them to Old Country Buffet for breakfast.  All three of them love it, so it worked out well.

We ate breakfast on the run.  Now don't judge me, you can see we ate fast food on the way.  McDonalds is convenient, inexpensive and they like it.

At least they drank OJ and a Powerade.

We left early to allow for some cushion in time.  Thank God.  We stopped in Woodland to get gas, which is about 1/2 hour from Vancouver.  Sofia by chance asked, "mom, did you pack my cleats?"....crap, no!.  We hurried to the mall and found a Big 5.   Shoes bought!   We were still 15 minutes late to the game, but it could have been worse.  I hate being late.  The game was good.  The other team played very well, great connections, communicated, stayed on top of the ball.  We've come a long way, but still have a way to go.  And the weather was beautiful, blue skies...I think I could live in Camas.

The ride home was so long!  I nibbled on the usual, sunflower seeds keep me awake.  Numb lip and tongue, but I stayed awake.  We picked up the boys and headed home with 2 pints of blueberries.

Today Uncle Jess, his granddaughter Brittney and new baby M came to visit.  My job was to bring blueberry muffins.  (That's why I was sent home with blueberries.)  I tried a new recipe from Ina, with a little raw sugar on top.  They were a hit and they looked pretty too!

Of course I have to bring something to do at the padres house.  So I packed up my felt and my Big Shot, picked up Sylvia on the way and headed over.  Inspired by Sara, I wanted to make felt flower clips for Lilia.  I started that process but didn't finalize a product, yet.  I cut plenty of circles and flowers to finish at home.  I think I need to buy some buttons to put in the center.  I had some large pieces of scrap felt, so I tried make a rainbow heart to applique to a shirt for Lilia.  I think the concept is good, but need to buy thinner fabric.  Seven layers of felt is too thick.

You can see my cut circles and flowers in the upper left corner.  The rainbow heart is there too.  Sofia's using the Big Shot to cut scraps.

Again, nothing accomplished.  No final product.  Maybe next weekend I'll finish.

JH starts basketball this week....it's going to be an already busy week filled with another activity.

Good night.

M is for Mom

Last night, while Sofia was at soccer, we went to JoAnn's. Initially I was looking for fabric to recover my new Goodwill finds (pictures to be posted soon), but I ended up being way too overwhelmed with the fabric to choose. And kids at my feet didn't allow me to take my time.

We ventured to find some great deals. Wooden letters for $1. Acrylic paint for 99 cents. We had a craft project for 2 bucks. Sofia had an S. I had an M. Lilia had a heart. She loves hearts.

So we began. In Sofia's true fashion, she took her time and made sure she covered it evenly in same direction strokes. Lilia was done in about 5 minutes, with sprinkles.

The boys didn't miss a beat....darn DS games.

Tomorrow we leave at 10:30am for a day of soccer. A 2 1/2 hour road trip south. Oh joy.

The house is quiet, well, except for the washer and dryer.

Good night.

P.S. These pictures are taken with my iPhone. Have I mentioned I need a new camera. I think Jimmy needs to "hook me up".
